ISLAMICITY TRAVEL STUDY
ISLAMICITY
TRAVEL STUDY
PROGRAM
OVERVIEW:
Muslims growing up and living in
Western countries have limited opportunities to gain meaningful insight into
their rich heritage and into the lives of fellow Muslims around the world. Some
Muslims have not traveled abroad except for performance of Hajj or Umra. Others
visit their homeland or that of their parents for brief visits, but do not learn
about other regions or peoples outside their particular culture. Educational
materials are also inadequate for engendering proper understanding of our
diverse ummah. Adding to this, an upbringing in the West often tends to
distance young Muslims from identifying in a meaningful way (culturally,
socially, intellectually, economically, etc.) with their peers living elsewhere.
In order to engender a greater global
connection among Muslims, IslamiCity offers travel study programs. The travel
takes place in Muslim countries or in countries with an Islamic heritage. The
objectives of the program include:
-
Facilitating direct
human interaction between participants and
fellow Muslims in other parts of
the world, in order to engender a sense of Islamic solidarity and
commonality.
-
Educating Muslims of
all ages living in the West about the rich
cultural heritage and
history of
various Muslim peoples, of which they form a part.
- Providing Muslims with a unique life
experience through travel and learning.
