 THINGS YOU CAN DO ON YOUR ADVENTURE
The activities listed here are in addition to the tours and activities in our formal itinerary. Some of these activities we will do as a group, while others you can do on your own!
MADRID

 Ride the Metro (subway) to get around town
 Visit the Islamic Center of Madrid (Centro Cultural Islamico de Madrid, C/ Salvador de Madariaga)
 Visit the world famous Prado Museum and the Reina Sofia (where Picasso's Guernica is housed)
 Walk along the Gran Via, one of Madrid's major boulevards, and shop at fine boutiques
 Visit the fountain of Cibeles, and the fountain of Neptune
 Have a beverage at the Plaza Mayor
 Stroll through the beautiful Retiro park

TOLEDO

 Buy some famous Damascene metalwork (jewelry, boxes, swords, etc.)
 Enjoy mazapan (marzapan), a special confection of eggs, almonds and sugar originally from Persia

CORDOBA

 Walk through the narrow, whitewashed streets and enjoy the flower pots and tiled patios
 Sip a bowl of cool gazpacho soup in one of the many cafes
 Visit the Archeological Museum of Cordoba, containing artifacts from pre-historic to Islamic times
 Visit the tower museum at the end of the Roman bridge
 Attend a bullfight in the Plaza de Toros
 Take an evening horse-drawn carriage ride through the old town area

SEVILLA

 Explore the narrow streets of the old town (the Juderia)
 Enjoy tapas (appetizers) at one of the many eateries near the Alcazar
 Take an evening horse-drawn carriage ride around the Cathedral area and the Plaza de España
 Stroll along the Gaudalquivir riverbank in the late afternoon or evening

GRANADA

 Have churros and hot chocolate for brunch
 See a flamenco show in one of the gypsy caves
 Acquire an array of spices at the spice market, or fresh fruit at the morning fruit market
 Get a look at the Alhambra fortress from the Plaza San Nicolas
 Enjoy the best ice cream in town at Los Italianos ice cream parlor
 Visit the Calle Calderia in the Albaicin, where many Muslims today have teterias (tea houses) and restaurants
 Visit Granada's modern hammam, a new spa created in the likeness of a medieval Muslim bath
  (single-gender groups with modest attire can be scheduled)
Shop for bargains: beautiful Moroccan rugs, ceramics, metalwork, leather goods
etc. are available in shops
