IslamiCity > Travel > 2008 Program to China China - Meals
 MEALS & FOOD

The program fee includes three (3) halal meals daily. Our tour is designed so that we can patronize Muslim establishments offering zabiha meat in every city of our itinerary. Seafood & vegetarian options will be plentiful as well.

Breakfast is provided in the hotel each morning. This is typically a large buffet that offers omelets/eggs to order, toast, pancakes, danishes, potatoes, fruits and vegetables, Chinese porridge, juices, milk and coffee/tea. You'll be sure to start your day off well. Lunch and dinner meals are provided at local Muslim restaurants during the tour schedule each day. You'll be served a huge variety of dishes that include beef or chicken, fish, shrimp, cooked vegetables, bread and fruits. A beverage and bottled water is included with the meal.

You'll be happy to note that the Muslim restaurants in the major cities we visit are widely held in China to be among the cleanest and of the highest quality. Among the Chinese people at large, Muslim eateries have a reputation for fresh, healthy, and delicious food, and are therefore very popular. One can recognize these restaurants by the use of gold calligraphy and the color green in the decor.

In each region we visit, and sometimes even within a city, one can experience unique variations of the same dish. Some popular mouth-watering items that we may get to sample include:

  • He Zhou Dumpling
  • Lanzhou Beef Noodle
  • Peking Duck
  • Hand-Clutching Rice
  • Whole Baked Goat
  • Nang (Pancake)

In some instances, we may even request local Muslims to prepare a traditional meal. To enjoy a meal with a Muslim family in a traditional Chinese setting is an unforgettable experience that no restaurant can offer. We are pleased to be able to offer such unique experiences periodically in our tours.

Participants are responsible for purchasing bottled water, beverages, snacks and other meals as they like during the tour, provided that the overall group schedule is not delayed or disrupted by these transactions.
