Rules

To participate just use the following 4 simple steps:

1. Register Online
2. Record your recitation on a video tape (NTSC, PAL, SECAM are acceptable formats)
3. Mail your video with a US$10 processing fee and the registration key to IslamiCity, Attn: Qiraah Competition, P. O. Box 3030, Culver City, CA 90231, USA.
4. The US$10 processing fee is required to process your entry for the competition.
   Without the processing fee your video will not be digitized.

AN APPEAL & ADDITIONAL REQUEST TO ALL PARTICIPANTS:

1. Please submit only ONE entry on one video tape.  Make sure that the Registration Key is written on a piece of paper and is scotch taped to the video tape or write with un inerasable marker on the video tape itself.
2. When you are done recording your entry, please rewind the tape before shipping it to us. Most preferably, use a new video tape. But if you do believe in recycling, it is perfectly fine with us as long as you do it right. Begin recording your entry from the beginning of the tape rather than from anywhere. Last time we ended up watching films, simply to locate your entry. Remember, we receive hundreds of entries!
3. Please do not wait until close to the deadline and submit your entry as early as possible. We receive an overwhelming majority of entries in the last 48 hours of the deadline. This results in a major workload on the 'digitizing volunteers' and also on 'judges' who had to view all the entries in a short period of time. Remember, each entry is viewed by all our judges. 

Timeline: 

You can submit your name during the month of Ramdan

1. Starts on Ramadan 1, 1427- September 23, 2006
2. Ends on Ramadan 29, 1427- October 21, 2006

Qualifying Ages:

 Competition is open to young Muslims between 6 & 25 years old, grouped by age.

1. Level 1 : between 5 and 9 years of age.
2. Level 2 : between 10 and 13 years of age.
3. Level 3 : between 14 and 17 years of age.
4. Level 4 : between 18 and 25 years of age.

Recitations by Level:

1. Level 1 have a choice of reciting Sura An-Nasr (110) or Sura Al-Ikhlas (112)
2. Level 2 have a choice of reciting Sura Al-Maun(107) or Sura Al-Kafirun (109)
3. Level 3 have a choice of reciting Sura At-Alaq (96) or Sura Al-Lail (92);
4. Level.4 have a choice of Memorizing (by heart) Sura Al-Qamar (54);

Reasons for Disqualification:

1. Videos postmarked past October 31, 2006 will not be qualified but may be digitized and posted as a non competing entry
2. Unreadable Recordings on NTSC, PAL & SECAM formats would not be digitized
3. Videos submitted without Registration Key
4. Videos showing friends and family with the participant
5. Multiple entries of the same participant
