Question:
Assalumualiakum wa rahmat ullah wabarakatuh; Dear respected Imam; concering your answer for question 889 about Gays and Lesbians. I know that it is Forbidden in Islam. But I am talking about those who were created like this and they do not have any attraction to the opposite sex, and they tried a lot to find a solution to their case but without any benefit. Do you think God will punish them for that thing that they do not have control over it, because I am pretty sure that GOD will forgive and he is the Almighty and Mericiful GOD. I am really confused and I would like you to answer me for that question. Because GOD will punish the people for the sins that you committed and have control over it but if you were created like this and no body can change something that he doesn't have control over it. I feel really sorry for Gays and Lesbians and how everybody thinks of them that straight people should be away of them and avoid them, although I know some of them who pray every fard and they do not commit any sins but because they are created like this they feel that they are isolated. Please, give me a convenient answer based on understanding their case and they were created like this and they did not change themselves by their hands. Please let me know as soon as possible. Jazakum Allah Kul Khair.
Answer:
Dear Anonymous person: As-Salaamu alaykum. What is sinful in homosexuality is the actual sexual act between the couple of a similar sex. However, if someone is truly born with an attraction to a similar sex, and has done what he/she can to deal with it but with no results, then there is no sin in simply accepting the way he/she is born and live with it. In addition, if a homosexual person transform his desires into a struggle and a challenge to overcome it and not physically commit it, then insha'Allah, he/she will get the reward for it. Thank you for asking and God knows best.
