 essalam aleykoum everyone hereSmile

Allah says in the Holy Quran:

"Do they not see the birds suspended in mid-air up in the sky? Nothing holds them there except Allah. There are certainly Signs in that for people who have faith." (Surat an-Nahl: 79)

A bird uses great energy when it takes flight because it has to lift all its body with its tiny wings. Yet, once it is up in the air, Allah has made it easy for it to remain aloft without expending too much effort. Birds can fly for a long time by allowing themselves to rely on the wind. This way, they hardly tire since they consume very little energy. When the effect produced by the wind diminishes, they begin to flap their wings again. By means of this feature Allah has given birds, they can cover very long distances and migrate to remote destinations.

It is interesting that birds' legs, so slender and little in comparison to their bodies, can carry their entire bodies. It is amazing that so many muscles, veins and nerves can exist in such a slender leg! If birds' legs were thicker and relatively more bulky, it would be more difficult for them to fly.

Almost all birds sleep on one leg. This does not upset their balance since their body weight is concentrated on this one leg. Allah has created birds with the features that enable them to maintain such a delicate balance.

The eyes of water fowl have been created for clear underwater vision. While we can't keep our eyes open underwater for even 45 seconds, water birds can easily catch insects and molluscs in water as they plunge their heads into it. Since this is the only way for them to feed themselves, they must have clear vision underwater. For this reason, Allah has created a special structure in their eyes, which permits seeing underwater.

Allah created the physical laws of our universe. These laws led to the creation of the stars and planet Earth. Birds are a result of evolution which is subjected to the same physical laws. There are no special structures in birds' eyes as a result of divine intervention, sorry.

How can you be so sure what and how God created?
And even if I agree, don't you think creation of physical laws in the first place = divine intervention?

Or is Physics just a code generating random results (like birds eye, complex creature, etc), which even God didn't know about

Many birds have huge wings, not tiny ones.

One of the secrets is the birds' skeletons which are highly adapted for flight, because they are extremely lightweight.

Sorry Muhammad, but this is dead wrong.  We know perfectly well what holds the bird up in the air.  It is not Allah.  It is the air itself.  Not only do we thoroughly understand how it is done, we can even do it ourselves -- no supernatural intervention required.

So much for "Quranic science". Tongue

Actually in the Qur'an it states all from Allah by Allah, including the Devil's ability. Put it simply it claims everything.

... which is the most anti-science attitude imaginable.  Why bother looking for a rational explanation for anything, if the answer is always going to be "the will of Allah"?

The Qur'an has plenty statements asking the readers to ponder over things, and that what the OP post is all about, responding to it.

Well, if "pondering" does not mean seeking a rational explanation for things, then this discussion does not belong in Science and Technology.  On the other hand, if it does, then it's worth noting that the Quran is factually wrong when it says that nothing holds up the birds besides Allah.

Well if that is the case you only need to convince him with what your ability to discuss that his science is not science. The other alternative is by asking the moderator to move his title somewhere else suitable according to you.
But I think it is better of if you discus it with him as what is science and what is not.

If I have to explain that "pondering over things" is not science, then I give up.

I have trouble with some of the arguments presented here. For example, what about say the small pox virus, has Allah made it to be ideally suited to live in the human body and kill people?

The "nothing holds them there" part reflects the fact that all holy texts are in fact written by human beings, speculating about what God would say if we were able to listen to him directly (which we are not). Only very progressive Muslims are able to admit this: The Quran reflects the knowledge of 7th century Arabia. Most Muslims on Islamicity find this totally shocking. Like Creationists find it shocking what Darwin found out.

However, there is a way to view Allah as the ultimate explanation for holding the bird up in the air. The bird is the result of evolution. The air on Earth is a product of our planet's formation. Life is a result of chemistry. The elements are a result of stellar nucleosynthesis. Stars are a result of inflation, quantum fluctuations and gravitation after the birth of our universe. How do we explain the universe? Maybe a multiverse. How do we explain the multiverse? How do we explain the explanation of the multiverse? There are two options for the ultimate explanation. God or 'some things just are'. Take your pick. If one believes in God, then God is the explanation for the bird and the air that holds the bird.

Assalaamu'alaikum Warahmatullahi Wabarakatuh,

Please consider Bernoulli's Law that I've read a few days ago, when I learned gas flow measurement technics

"Bernoulli's law is a basic concept of fluid mechanics, the law of Bernoulli explained that the increase in speed in a flow of liquid or gas, will result in reduced pressure on a liquid or gas. This means that there will be a decrease in the potential energy in the fluid flow".

That's why the upper section of aircraft's wings was made longer than the lower section.

Please be smart, before Allah wrath you as His firman in Qur'an Surah 10 Verse 100:
And no one will believe except by the permission of Allah, and Allah inflict wrath to those who do not use their minds/brain.

Wassalaam. Thumbs%20Up

Nonsense. It's the natural laws that keep the birds afloat.
