Assalamu aleikum,
A muslim should be responsible in spending money, extravagance and waste
are strongly discouraged "[The servant of Allah swt are] those who, when
they spend are not extravagant and not stingy, but hold a just balance
between those extreme".
(Qura'n 25:67)

"O children of Adam! wear your beatiful apparel at every time and place
of prayer. Eat and drink but waste not by excess, for Allah loves not the
wasters" (Qura'n 7:31).

Yeah, the key is moderation, and even when giving charity.

... And Do Not Make Your Hand Tied To Your Neck Like a Miser Nor Stretch It Forth To Its Utmost Reach, So You Become Blameworthy, Destitute.

(Surah 17: Ayah 29)
