The Jews condemned Yeshua of Galilee, the Messiah, for
Sabbath-breaking: At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath.
His disciples were hungry, and they began to pluck heads of grain and to eat. But when the Pharisees saw it, they said to him, "Look, your disciples are doing what is not lawful to do on the Sabbath." He said to them, "Have you not read what David did when he was hungry, and those who were with him: how he entered the house of God and ate the bread of the Presence, which it was not lawful for him to eat nor for those who were with him, but only for the priests? Or have you not read in the Law how on the Sabbath the priests in the temple profane the Sabbath and are guiltless? I tell you, something greater than the temple is here. And if you had known what this means, 'I desire mercy, and not sacrifice,' you would not have condemned the guiltless. For the Son of Man is lord of the Sabbath." He went on from there and entered their synagogue. And a man was there with a withered hand. And they asked him, "Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?" so that they might accuse him. He said to them, "Which one of you who has a sheep, if it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will not take hold of it and lift it out? Of how much more value is a man than a sheep! So it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath." Then he said to the man, "Stretch out your hand." And the man stretched it out, and it was restored, healthy like the other. But the Pharisees went out and conspired against him, how to destroy him. Matthew 12:1-12 The Jews condemned Yeshua of Galilee, the Messiah, for Sabbath-breaking based on these verses: You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you.
Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to YHWH. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death. Exodus 31:14-15 Six days work shall be done, but on the seventh day you shall
have a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to YHWH. Whoever does any work on it shall be put to death. Exodus 35:2 While the people of Israel were in the wilderness, they found a
man gathering sticks on the Sabbath day. And those who found him gathering sticks brought him to Moses and Aaron and to all the congregation. They put him in custody, because it had not been made clear what should be done to him. And YHWH said to Moses, "The man shall be put to death; all the congregation shall stone him with stones outside the camp." And all the congregation brought him outside the camp and stoned him to death with stones, as YHWH commanded Moses. Numbers 15:32-36 These verses all come from the Priestly Source, or P, according to the Documentary Hypothesis: Friedman, R.E. Who Wrote the Bible? The Priestly Source emphasizes Temple Ritual ("rite") over against Moral Justice ("right") and so was universally condemned by all the Hebrew Prophets: P emphasizes expensive sacrifices that the people must pay the Temple Priests to perform. P emphasizes the role of the Jerusalem Temple. But the Hebrew Prophets speaking under the inspiration of YHWH-God condemned these costly Temple rites that usurped the importance of Righteousness and Justice: "Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings
forty years in the desert, O house of Israel? Amos 5:25 As for my sacrificial offerings,
they sacrifice meat and eat it, but YHWH does not accept them. Now he will remember their iniquity and punish their sins; they shall return to Egypt. For Israel has forgotten his Maker and built Temples, and Judah has multiplied fortified cities; so I will send a fire upon his cities, and it shall devour her strongholds. Hosea 8:13-14 Thus says YHWH of hosts, the God of Israel: "Add your burnt
offerings to your sacrifices, and eat the flesh*. For in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, I did not speak to your fathers or command them concerning burnt offerings and sacrifices. But this command I gave them: 'Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people. And walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.' Jeremiah 7:21-23 *This is an explicit violation of Priestly Law from P (cf. Lev 1:13, "bring it all and burn it upon the altar" ) We have seen that the Prophets of YHWH-God, speaking under Divine Inspiration, explicitly condemned Temples (Hos 8:14) and Priestly Temple sacrifices (Jer 7:21). See also the prophetic poems in: 1 Samuel 15:22; Psalm 51:16; Hosea 6:6,9:4; Amos 4:4,19 & 5:21 -25. The Priestly Source was written c.715 bce during the reign of King Hezekiah of Judah: Friedman, R.E. Who Wrote the Bible? Knohl, I. Divine Symphony. YHWH-God, speaking through His Prophet Jeremiah around 600 bce, condemned the Priestly Source as a lie: In direct rebuttle to P, the Prophet Jeremiah (c. 600 bce) wrote: " 'How can you say, "We are wise,
for we have the Torah of YHWH," when actually the lying pen of the scribes has handled it falsely? Jeremiah 8:8 See also: Friedman, R.E. Who Wrote the Bible? pp. 208-209. Unlike the beautiful poetry of the Holy Qu'ran, the Hebrew Prophets, and the oldest layers of the Hebrew Old Testament, P is known amongst scholars for its crudeness : According to the Wikipedia entry on the Priestly Source: P is regarded by the majority of scholars as particularly
inelegant, and most think themselves able to recognise a text from P on sight due to this. That is, when compared to the Divinely inspired writings of the Holy Qu'ran, the Hebrew Prophets, and the oldest layers of the Hebrew Old Testament, the Priestly Source (P) is "particularly inelegant". P, and the Priestly Temple traditions it represents, is also explicitly condemned by YHWH-God speaking through His Hebrew Prophets. Thus, it is unambiguously clear that P is the handiwork of un-inspired mortal men. Conclusion: It should come as no surpirse, therefore, that the (false) writings the Jews used to Crucify the Messiah are the un- inspired inventions of mortal men In particular, P is the fictional invention of the corrupt Temple Priests in Jerusalem in c.715 bce after the fall of the Northern Kingdom of Israel to Assyria. Swarms of Israelite refugees fled south into Judah. The population of Judah more than tripled meaning the northern Israelite refugees outnumbered the Judeans by perhaps three-to-one. Thus, the Jerusalem kings and Priesthood were forced to acknowledge the Levitical traditions of their new Israelite subjects who now realized that the Hebrew Prophets (like Amos and Hosea) had indeed spoken the truth by the hand YHWH-God. Therefore, the Temple Priests wrote P as a rebuttle to the Levitical Prophetic traditions of the Israelite refugees. They wrote P in the name of YHWH-God to justify the expensive Temple sacrifices and rituals upon which they depended for their decadent lifestyles, in the face of the popular reform movement amongst the now-repentent northern Israelite refugees. Eight-hundred years later, their corrupt Sadducee and Pharisee descendents then used these lies (Jer 8:8) to crucify the Messiah, who like Jeremiah, Hosea, and the Hebrew Prophets before him had demanded true spiritual reform based on a concern for "right over rite". Addendum: P brutally despised Moses P cruelly slanders Moses. For example, whereas in the Levite Torah, Moses performs miracles before the Pharaoh of Egypt using his own staff (Nehustan), in P it is Aaron who performs the miracles using his (Aaron's) staff (cf. Ex 4:2-20 (JE) vs. Ex 7:8-12 (P)). Also, P constantly demeans the very Midianites whose Priest Jethro had given shelter, and his daughter in marriage, to Moses in the Wilderness. That is, P slanders Moses' wife and, by extension, the whole Levite priesthood descended from Moses and his son Gershom. Indeed, P falsifies the Levite geneology to even deny that the Levites were descendents of Moses at all (cf. Ex 6 (P))! Lastly and most shockingly, especially for Middle Easterners who understand the cultural context please recall the conflict, mentioned above, between the Temple Priesthood and the Levites. The Priestly writers denied Moses had a rod of authority, claiming instead it was Aaron who had the rod of authority. Understandably, therefore, King Hezekiah the patron of the Priests over against the Levites confiscated the ancient rod of Moses, the "Staff of God" (Ex 4:20), and broke it into pieces (2 Ki 18:4). And, as Hezekiah was crushing Moses' rod, the Priestly writers of P claimed that Moses had to wear a veil (Ex 34:33-35). If you are from the Middle East, you know what it means that the Temple Priests had Hezekiah crush Moses' rod, and then claimed that Moses wore a veil. The dark Satanic humor of P has been revealed. It is no wonder that YHWH-God, speaking through His Prophets, has repeatedly condemned the "lying pen of the scribes" (Jer 8:8) that concocted these falsehoods. Edited by Bismarck |
