The American consumer is hopelessly addicted to these cheap Chinese prices. Imagine prices were multiplied by five in every Walmart. Can you imagine the resulting chaos?

This American addiction to cheap labour products, oil-guzzling SUVs, and credit card debts is unsustainable. At the same time, it is impossible to backpedal from that addiction.

Another issue is the fact that the American way of life has badly damaged family structure and family relationships. People won't really help each other in times of crisis, and that makes any crisis only worse. In times of crisis, you're actually better off in a developing country, because they will share the little they have.
