Be sincere and let me know how many cud u recall out of 114 As salamu alaikum This exercise was tough - I could only remember the order up to 16th Juz ie only 20 Surahs in order. that means in the remainder 14 there are 94 Surahs. Bismillah irrahman irrahim Assalamu alaykum I am not quite sure about who was the first sahabi to memorise Holy Quran thats why i asked. But if i you think about the whole matter, Zaid (ra)'s name does come to mind. Thing is he was one of most used scribe and he was present in the meeting of last ramadan when Sayyidina Muhammad sallallahu alyhi wassalam was reciting Holy Quran to Jibrail alyhissalam. Now if some one has experience of listening to a Hafize Quran, you cant really keep up with them unless you yourself know Holy Quran by heart and Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala knows best. The exercise of trying to remember Surahs of Holy Quran, it is tough one sister alwardah but mashaAllah you done well by remembering till juz 16. I could only remember first 5 in order wassalam

As'salamualaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu, And coming to the discussions Alwardah is right for the first time probably to answer all the three answers 'And of mankind is he who sells himself, seeking the pleasure of Allah. And Allah is full of kindness to [His] slaves" This is the verse of Al-Baqarah. and was revealed about one of the sahabas. Who is he? A} Mu'adh Ibn Jabl RA B} Salman Farsi RA c} Suhaib ibn Sinan Before going to the discussion as why this verse was revealed, lets know the background of Suhaib ibn sinan RA a little. When Prophet salllal lahu alaihi wasallam , intended to emigrate, Suhaib RA knew that and he was supposed to be the third one of the three - Abu Bakr RA , Prophet SAWS and Suhiab RA. However, the Quraish decided to prevent the emigration. Suhaib RA fell into one of there traps and was thereby hindered for sometime from emigrating , while the Prophet saws and Abu Bakr set out. Suhaib RA disputed talked and argued until he got rid of his persecutors. He mounted his camel and sped across the desert. However Quraysh sent its hunters to follow him. When they reached him, Suhaib had hardly seen them before facing them and shouting from a near distance, " O people of Quraysh, you know that I am the best marksman .By Allah , you cannot reach me before I shoot each of my arrows with my bow, then I will strike you with my sword until it falls down. Come on, if you like to try. Or if u like, I will tell you where my money is, and so leave me alone. They agreed to take his money saying "You came to us as a poor wretch. Your money incresed in our land and among us you claimed high rank and now you want to escape together with your money? " He guided them to the place where he had hidden his fortune, then they left him alone and returned to Makkah. Strangely enough they believed his words without doubt , without precaution. They did not ask him to prove his honesty or to swear. This situation granted him a great honor, which he deserves as an honest truthful person. Alone but happy, Suhaib RA continued his journey until he reached the Prophet {Saws} at Qubaa. When Suhaib RA came into view , Prophet saws saw him, he called to him cheerfully, "O Abu Yahia! A Profitable sale! A Profitable sale!" There upon this glorious verse was revealed : "'And of mankind is he who sells himself, seeking the pleasure of Allah. And Allah is full of kindness to [His] slaves". Indeed Suhaib had paid all his fortune - the fortune he spent all his youth to gather - in return for his faithful soul. He never felt it was an unjust bargain. Money ,Gold, the whole world , nothing of that sort was worthwhile as long as he kept his faith. Now lets have a look at ourselves. Most of the muslims today prefer to acquire wordly I remember a story of an American who had embraced Islam duirng his trip at Saudi Arabia. Earlier he had not even listened the word ISlam. While shoppping he bargained a lot but the owner did not give him the commodity at his rate. The bargain still continued and then they heard the call for the prayer i.e Adh'aan. And the shopkeeper immediately left the commodity for which they were arguing since long time wherein he was in no mood to give it to him. He soon settled the matter with the amt this person was asking for and left for the salah. This incident made this American to know as what his religion was which insisted him so. Very soon his recitation of Qur'an had its Effect over him and soon he embraced Islam. Had the shopkeeper looked for just little profit of that commodity, he would not have gained this profit inhis Aakirah. Anyways May Allah grant us such spirit of imaan. |

Bismillah irrahman irrahim Wa'alaykum assalam wa rahmatullahe wa barakatuhu Next set of questions: A} Yaqub AS b} Ayub AS c} Yusuf AS It was Yusuf alyhissalam who interpreted dreams. He was put in prison by aziz of Egypt on allegations made by his wife which were proven wrong though. He interpreted dreams of his fellow prisoners that one of them is going to be freed while the other one will face execution. This fellow prisoner who escaped execution used to work for aziz and later on when aziz saw a dream and wanted to know what it meant went to prison to ask the interpretation of it. Yusuf alyhissalam told them about the dream and was freed and given a great honour later on. Part of the dream was that land of Egypt will have 8 prosperous years of rainfall and grain followed by 8 years of drought. Interestingly the weather still follows the same patern and scientists have discovered it in the last century. But Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala had blessed His Prophet and servant with this knowledge many thousands years ago. May Allah bless u with with this blessing of hifz. JazakAllah khair Its great to know that u are memorising Qur'an. Are u doing this under supervision of any or by your own? Pls let know. Its bit hard to find a teacher in the area where i live but inshaAllah i hope i will do. If you have a teacher then you get bound to it and its like a course but i had few things i was involved in already so could not commit like that. I have heard and read that you should do it with a teacher but if you cant, it should not stop anyone from learning by themselves. Alhamdulillah its ok, you have to make a schedule and have to, have to stick with it, listen recitation of Ayaat or Surah you trying to memorise many times and alhamdulillah you learn it ok. As'salamualaikum, 1. And regarding the first question, though i referred to Yusuf AS and as Sis Fatima did explain it exactly, i just have a doubt here that Yaqub AS did interpret the dream of Yusuf AS that the stars prostrate him ---. Even Yaqub AS did interpretation na? 2.Which of the companions of Prophet saws, decided not to spend his money anymore in charity over a close relative who was amongst the group those who brought forth the slander against his daughter, But when a verse was revealed he continued for charity to him. A} Uthman RA B} Abu Bakr RA C] Umar RA When the verse of innocence of Aishah RA was revealed against the hypocrites who made their accusations against her and spread lies about her, then Abu Bakr RA, who used to spend on Mistah bin Uthathah because he was a close relative and because he was poor, said, `By Allah, I will never spend anything on him again after what he has said about `A'ishah. Then a verse was revealed -And let not those among you who are blessed with graces and wealth swear not to give to their kinsmen until His saying: Do you not love that Allah should forgive you And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. So Abu BAKR RA said, `By Allah, certainly I love that Allah should forgive me.' So he resumed spending on Mistah as he had spent on him before, and he said, `By Allah, I shall never stop spending on him.'" |
