I envy Nadir his Faith but not his inability to suffer fools.
And yes I did mean it that way. The only reason I share so much about Judaism is to make an appetite for discussion. Like a typical New Yorker will talk candidly to encourage you to share. In LA we consider them just rude. Israeli's are famous for having absolutely no observing ego. I've lived here most of my life now. Edited by Daniel Dworsky |

Bismillah, Nadir, I don't understand your animosity towards Daniel. Have you met so many people who are not genuine that you have no faith in any Israelis or Jews? |

Daniel, Could you answer the claim by made by some on this forum that Arabs who have Israeli citizenship have full citizenship and serve in the army when they are 18? I don't believe this is true, but if you have the time, please respond. Thanks. (I liked your English music, but the Hebrew stuff I disliked as much as I dislike Opera!) |

I don't know his name, but the man who is believed to have cause the Shia-Sunni discord amongst the Muslims, was born a Jew. Interestingly, Karl Marx was also born a Jew and caused a great schism in Europe and introduced the world to the vicious ideas of socialism. These are only my observations, other members need not comment. |

Israeli Arabs are not drafted into service however some do volunteer. Druze Arabs are famous for their courage under fire. Their religion precedes both Islam as well as Judaism. I served along side some of these men and I was amazed by how tough and professional they were. I felt confident that no one on either side was going to do anything stupid or rash when these guys were around. When the Dali Lama visits Israel/ Palestine he meets with the Druze elders here. Beduins also serve but they rarely make officer rank. Again they are volunteers. AS far as full citizenship? In my opinion, errr well...No It's subtle discrimination but still my answer would have to be No. Arabs do not really enjoy all the rights that the state provides any Jew with out question. A good example of this would be: The law of return that being any Jew living in the Diaspora can expect to be granted Israeli citizenship without question or delay. They even get a seven year tax break. My mother and her second husband immigrated in 1972 without a problem. neither were gainfully employed and my mom's hubby had a criminal record. I have Muslim friends with family members and fiancés in Palestine. They are basically screwed. They are "welcome to live in Palestine" But even after they are married the Palestinian spouse can not enjoy Israeli citizenship with out major bureaucratic problems court costs and refusal. Most land in Israel is leased from the government. The government tends to sell these leases to realty companies that sell only to Jews. In Atlit where I live we own our own land. It's a mixed neighbourhood that precedes the state of Israel by about 100 years. People here in Atlit have a healthy and heavy distrust of all things that smell of politicians and military. We all still stick up for each other and tend to see each others individual fights as our own regardless of religion. We all hate the police. Edited by Daniel Dworsky |

You know what? Get the guys name ... I'll talk to him and we'll settle this mess once and for all. Karl Marx basically reintroduced the idea of "sharing" but on a global scale. What a horrible man. What other systems were in control of society at that time? 1. Unchecked capitalism 2. Totalitarianism My final point has to be that no matter wht the problem you can pretty much trace it to some French twit I'm kidding well sort of... No really, I'm just messing with you. I don't know what it is French people just piss me off for some reason. :-) Karl Marx was really just barely Jewish and he also sort of had the right idea for his time. The Ruling power in Russia was the Czar Nicoli Rominov who was a totally bonkers murdering bastard There is now a rise in Marxism again. Socialism is sort of a Compromise of Communism an Capitalism. It allows Capitalists to put people to work while taxing them enough to feed and educate the poor. What kind of socialism were you talking about? Edited by Daniel Dworsky |

Bismillah, Thank you for your quick response, Daniel! It's hard to picture what life in other places is really like. Any insight you can relate animates the discussion. |

The Ruling power in Russia was Well, Daniel, hun. I find your posts to be fair and reasonable. But, as an american of Slavic decent. (My great grandmother immigrated here in 1913 from what is now the Ukraine) I actually have to disagree with this assessment of Marxism and Tsar Nicholi Romanov. The socio-economic conditions prior to the start of the first World War were complex and the conditions of the peasantry versus the ruling class are what lead to the Oktober Revolution. As a Russian Major, I have studied Russian politics, culture and religion extensively. A more accurate assessment of the Last Tsar is a father who was more wrapped up in his own problems. He also did not have an accurate view of what was going on in his own country. Rasputin told him the peasants loved him, the ministers lied to him about the state of the people. Tsar Nicholas' crimes are more apathy and blindess to the plight of others, than psychopathic homicidal tendencies. If anything Lennin and his contingent were the murderers. The purges happened after Stalin took control. It was the Communists who murdered thousands of priests, nuns and regular citizens. They suppressed art and free thought and they turned an already bad situation for the peasants into an impossibly worse situation. Okay...now, other than that....post away, Daniel. I always enjoy reading your posts from the Holy Land. Peace, Angela |
