Two things
1. Israel has the right to defend itself from a clear and present danger.
It does not have the right to exact revenge on or assassinate elected
officials.
Besides being just plain wrong It's a bloody stupid thing to do.
I am embarrassed as both an Israeli and as an american.

2. The IDF is not taking responsibility for the missile attack on the beach
in Gaza. The word is that there is a possibility that the attack was not only
indeed an accident but that it was not from the Israeli side at all. As
much as I'd like to believe this I won't believe it until we get a statement
from the Pal coroners with samples of the shrapnel (there is a difference
between mine shrapnel and missile shrapnel) as well as a photo
describing the shape of the single crater on the beach. (elliptical =missile
whereas a circular crater=mine) So far witnesses/survivors at the scene
say that there was not a "shelling" but a single explosion that
may in the end prove to have been a mine. That is a mine meant to
protect sovereign thinking Palestinians from israeli invaders. ironically
placed by Hamas. In the end it doesn't entirely matter who is right or who
is wrong. When civilians suffer we can all share in the blame.
I don't know yet but I'm making calls so watch this space.


The best metaphor I can think for this situation is that of a very rocky
marriage. As two adults with small children may hate the sight of each
other and are on the way to divorce court they still both have an
obligation to protect their children from each other's issues.
