My understanding is that a Hadith is Daif or weak because the number of narrators on its chain of transmission are much fewer as compared to a sahih hadith or authentic hadith. Also a sahih hadith can even have multiple chains of transmission - which is not the case with a daif hadith. However this does not mean a particular daif hadith is 'weak' in its reliability. So please be careful when you accept or reject anything from the hadith.
Just like HaafidhulQuran, we have hadith scholars who learn by heart not just the hadith alone but also its chain of transmission back to prophet (pbuh). Another good source of hadith is RiyadusSaliheen by imam Nawawi. This book is in two volumes, and contains relevant quranic verses along with the hadith (most of which are authentic) |

Salaam Alaikum islamispeace, Nausheen, friendship, honeto and nothing. Thank you for the explanations.
It seems to me like Bukhari and Muslim are the most authentic hadith, and Bukhari compiled his collections after very many years of careful research. Sounds like one cannot be a Muslim without the hadith, but they are not above the Quran. Would that be correct? Shukran. |
