Assalamu Alaikum,

When Muslims present information as being scientific, why don't they provide sources?

Providing sources not only allows for cross checking of quotations, it also to a slight degree inhibits the promulgation of pseudoscience since people making a claim from an authentically scientific article risk exposure if people read the sources and find the alleged facts to be contrary to the original article.

Kind regards,
~Dan

Sometimes, they do, Daniel. A good example is Maurice Bucaille. But unfortunately he was a medical doctor and knew little about cosmology. He only used the Quran as his source.

Some do some don't. And few times those evidences presented was questionable too.

I came across few Harun Yahya's scientific books and videos, maybe you like to verify them yourself, than let us know what you think about them.

Salaam.

It would take a lot of time to read a lot of books.

Given that the entire Muslim world produces only one per cent of global scientific output1, if one is desiring to read a number of books on science, chances are their time would be more wisely spent reading literature produced by non-Muslim universities than reading works produced by Muslim scholars who generally do more to fetter independant investigation of reality than they do to help it.

Having said that, if you select whichever one "scientific" book of Harun Yahya's you consider most important I'm happy to give it a read. I'm not narrow minded, but even open minded people have to spend their time wisely.

Salaam,

In the absence of a specific suggestion, I went through the book list at www.harunyahya.com It so happened that the first book on the list dealing with science was, "Uncle Darwin, We Haven't Changed", you can view it or download it here;

www.harunyahya.com/en/works/47831/Uncle-Darwin--We-Havent-Changed

Although it's target audience is clearly children, it nontheless eloquently and clearly explains the gist of the anti-evolutionist argument in simple terms free of jargon. It is a beautifully (read stunningly) presented book and Harun Yahya deserves credit for bringing together the artisitic genius of those who illustrated it.

What he doesn't deserve credit for, is presenting either a scientificly sound, or a theologically sound argument against evolution. It contains a substantial portion of demonstrably unsound material.

Would you be interested in discussing the book either here or by personal message or email?
