As I am not new guy with the discussion forum I can see this format is a hardly use platform. I remember when I was active in the Newsgroup format in the 2nd half of 90's than when we were invited to move to the newly created discussion forum, which was this format. News group now is as good as no more, and now we are left with this kind of format following suit in it's trend. Of course it is because other emerging technology taking over. So I created a facebook account to see if this is the cause.

It did not take me that long to see that the facebook seem facing the same dilemma. It can't be because mobile phone as the cause, because in 1993 I had my first mobile phone back then (only use for when it's really necessary though).

I know hardly anyone participate in this forum but I've been reading all this time, therefore I still want to hear from any of you who are still breathing what maybe is the cause.

Quality over quantity naturally, but quality with quantity would be even better. But there is something that stopping people from doing it.

When we were still using newsgroup there seem a lot post on daily basis, the good and the bad. Thats why many religious discussion group were moderated. No matter which group we read there always people in it. This NG only losing the participant when this format appeared. But this forums now losing participants, and not gaining.So the question is what is the cause? Maybe facebook, twitter and what else, but at least in facebook I see the same thing happening, it is so quite. Even the sceptic dominated forum facing the same fate. So what is the cause for the people in participating the whatever discussion is. My friend reckons because the government secret service are roaming to find for easy prey in this kind of discussion forum at facebook etc,by saying "Gotcha - you st**id al qaida". Maybe that is one of the reason I don't know. The fact is people seems retreating from public discussions. Even in family gathering now we switched off the mobile phone, or at least put them away. Today Smartphone can be used as listening device 24 hours a day.
