I would like to hear from one Muslim that can view a Jew as a brother...

and if not then tell me why not...

Muslims are allowed to take a wife who is jewish.

Not sure if any of our board members have a jewish wife, but there was one brother some time back.

Will that count in your estimation :p ?

From the Quran

"O Mankind, We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other. Verily the most honored of you in the sight of God is he who is the most righteous of you" (Quran 49:13).

As'alaamu Alaikkum

The Jews are indeed brothers of Muslims, this replationship goes back to Prophet Ibrahim (AS). Simply put, the Jews are descended from Prophet Ish'haq and the muslims from Prophet Ish'mael. However, Allah Subhana Wa Ta'ala has cursed the Jews because they have corrupted the book of Prophet Musa (AS) and they have deviated from His religion. Presently I believe the enmity and hatred stems from the Palestine issue and it is wholly political.

Thanks for your response.

But to marry, the woman has to convert to Islam, is that not correct?  And if I understand, while a Muslim man can take a wife of another faith as long as they convert to Islam, the same is not available to Muslim women... Is my understanding of that correct?

I am wanting to know if a Muslim may be friends with a person who retains their Jewish faith and belief.

I believe this,

but what does this scripture from the qur'an mean exactly, (to you)?

That mankind is one brotherhood and the best of us in the sight of God is he who is most righteous.

This raises two questions to my mind;
Who is he that is most righteous?  What makes a man most righteous in the sight of God?
and,
Is he who is less righteous still considered, and treated, as a brother... all one in the Creation of God?

Asalamu aleykum

(I hope I got that salutation correct  :-))
