Reading this book gave me a sense of the real tragedy of Christianity...

It was a time when people were very simple, and largely uneducated. Isa(Jesus) had a very small number of followers who had to convey his message among the Israelites who rejected the message, the Romans and Greeks who were polytheistic, and even had to propagate AGAINST what Paul was spreading (a deviation).

To know that all original manuscripts have been destroyed for over 1700 years, that the Bible is so horribly unauthentic, that the Church began as a branch of the Roman government...it is horrifying to know that billions of people have been deceived by such a hoax, and are still being deceived.

The language of the Bible is really a dead language. 99.9% of English speakers can't make sense of it. They depend on the interpretations and common usage of their clergy. Because the New History of Early Christianity sets the Bible in its historical context and provides details of what was happening, it gives a much clearer sense of the meanings.

The footnotes and bibliography included in the writing are extensive. Freeman has produced a serious scholarly work that can still be easily read by laymen. As I read, I was really amazed at how clear the picture of early Christianity became, and how even what Allah has said about Christianity was clarified because the details of history are filled-in.

I recommend for anyone interested in reading to take your own notes of points made that seem relevant to you; compile your own synopsis of the book. I came across the copy in my local library...
