Just to confirm what you are saying: there are currently around 2.1 billion christians, and you are claiming that over half of them are followers of Camping. Correct? Do you have any evidence which backs up your claim? Reepicheep, Christians have been trying to predict the end of the world for 2,000 years. It is not a new development. So, when I said that "most" Christians try to play this foolish game, it is actually not that far fetched. Of course, not all Christians follow fools like Camping, but the point is that Camping and his followers are just another group in a long line of Christians who have sincerely believed that they can predict the end of the world, even though the Bible says otherwise. Also, you ignored the second part of my statement, regarding the status of Jesus (pbuh) in light of the verse brother Hasan mentioned. What are your views on that? |

Islamispeace, were you lying or telling the truth when you claimed that "most Christians" are trying to predict the end of the world?
If you were lying, then please admit it. If you were telling the truth: you have provided us with the name of one Christian who tried to predict the end of the world. Please provide us with the names of the additional 1,049,999,999 christians who you claim are trying to predict the end of the world. If you are unable to provide us with the names, then I will settle for a list of Christian denominations who's theology contains the belief that it is possible to predict the end of the world, as well as an estimate of how many members each denomination has. To prove you are not lying, it will be necessary for the total membership of these denominations to exceed 1.05 billion.

I ignored it because it is totally unrelated to the topic of this thread. If you wish to pursue that topic further, then start a new thread. Edited by Reepicheep - 01 November 2011 at 3:19pm |

I ignored it because it is totally unrelated to the topic of this thread. If you wish to pursue that topic further, then start a new thread. As I said, there has been a tendency among Christians throughout the history of Christendom to try to predict the end of the world. Camping's predictions are not isolated incidents. Now, if you want to take my words a little too literally, there is nothing I can do. It is no "lie" to say that many Christians have attempted to predict the end of the world. Perhaps I should have used the word "many" and not "most". But as I have clarified, I understand that many Christians do not play the game of trying to predict the end. But, my point is that Camping and his group are just another addition to a long list that has spanned centuries. |

Sadly, most Christians choose to disregard the plain evidence from their own book which should keep them from playing this foolish game of trying to predict the end of the world. They also choose to disregard this verse which proves conclusively that Jesus (pbuh) was not God, but simply man, like you and me. Of course, he was a great man and a prophet, but a man nonetheless. May Allah's peace be upon him and his mother, Hazrat Mariam.

That's true but that is clearly not what Camping and his band of misfits were predicting.![]() Salam brother,
certainly, they even don't know their belief, these people even don't pay attention to their own book, if he was he would never come up with such claims.
[COLOR="#651300">Matthew 24:36[/COLOR">[ The Day and Hour Unknown ] “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
Note, that there is somthing else in the above verse which people like Jack need to pay attention now while they can. " nor even the son", Jesus (pbuh) cannot be clearer than that even he does not know when that Day will come. Common sense tell us what that means, one that does not know, is not God, if you need logic to prove it!
Jazakallah,
Hasan that's true brother. This has happened in the past, there were other Christian leaders who had said things like this before, that "the world will end on such date according to some codes in the Bible", all turned out to be mare hoax. But its their belief, we cannot force them to change their beliefs. We have been doing what is right, to show them the truth, even from their own books, is it not funny that their own books do not agree with what they claim to be the very basic foundation of their belief system? Take our friend Jack, here on the forum for example who can read one of the commands from OT loud and clear prohibiting to erect statues or to make drawings, pictures and figurines of "ANY LIVING CREATURES" nor to bow in front of them. But he cannot live by it because he has seen all his life people doing just the opposite, and he is just doing what he saw those around him doing, and he does not want to make them upset, and he is not allowed to question this practice in light of the OT prohibition. If you ever go a Catholic church, I recommend you do brother, it will open your eyes, statues everywhere, of off course living creatures, of Jesus, Mary, Joseph,(pbut) and so many others. People bowing down and kneeling to them. May Allah guide those who seek it. By the way Hasan is a very popular name, even one of my own nephew is also named Hassan. My dua is that Allah make our new generation full of knowledge and Imaan, Ameen. Jazakallah brother keep up the good work. Hasan |

Hasan I have not been inside a Catholic church but I have drive past Catholic homes. The front lawns are usually adorned with statues of the Virgin Mary etc. You are absolutely right about people like Jack. They claim to follow God's Laws but they violate them everyday. Using statues, even if it is just to seek the intercession of the "saints", is a violation of one of the Ten Commandments, yet these people blindly do it because they have been taught to do it. It is a living example of what Islam teaches, that people are born with the fitrah, but it is the environment in which they are raised that corrupts them. You are a wise man brother, much wiser than me. May Allah (swt) shower His blessings on you for spreading His word and refuting falsehood with His truth. |

I'd like to examine your claim more closely, Islamispeace. The problem, however, is that the term "most" is too vague to work with.
What did you mean by "most"? Did you mean 60%? 90%? 99%? Please provide us with a more accurate number so that we can discuss.
