Sister Marie, Being in love is the best thing that can happen to a human being but changing religion is a very big decision not just for yourself but it affects your life style and your family members. Most importantly think this matter through throughly because this is a major step in your life.I realise that when you love someone you will do anything for them but if you want to change your religion (my personal belief) than do it for the love of Allah then for the love of your boyfriend.Just imagine if something ever happened to your boyfriend then you might think that you converting to islam was for nothing and soon it will be a mistake which is the biggest gift their is in islam to be a muslim. Please think carefully before making decisions. Bismillah, (In the name of Allah, God), Marie, You are asking if people will accept you. Some will and some won't. The important people may be his family. Who in his family are important to him, and will they accept you? Some families are cruel to their daughters-in-law even if they are girls from their own village or families. Maybe they think it's their job to test them this way. Some will be kind when they see you showing respect to them and not "stealing" their son. But showing respect is different for different families. It is a long, complicated topic which you must learn about through time. Maybe if you research his culture and not just his religion you will be more succesful in achieving your goals. And will your family accept him and his family? Do you need them to? |
