Assalamu alaikum.

The conditions stipulated for one to attend this last Pillar of Islam has been liberalized that people refer to leave their immediate relations in abject poverty and destitution to perform it. 
Nonetheless, what is the significance of this verse in holy Qur'an chapter 7: "Their Salat at the House (of Allah i.e. Ka'ba) was nothing but whistling and clapping of hands. Therefore taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve."
