   I wish to comment regarding "Zakat for Da'wah" as I found it solicited on
IslamiCity's front page.  It is an inspiring idea, however, in my search I found this at a Q&A page ( http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp?HD=1&ID=4416&CATE=195 ) --excerpt  as follows:

It is a condition for both Zakat and Zakat al-Fitr that it be given to someone legally poor (or from the other zakat categories mentioned in the Qur'an), according to all four Sunni schools of fiqh, and they all state that it is invalid to give it for other acts of good, such as da`wah, building mosques or charity.

	"As-Sadaqaat (here it means Zakaah) are only for the Fuqaraa’ (poor), and Al-Masaakeen (the poor) and those employed to collect (the funds); and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and to free the captives; and for those in debt; and for Allaah’s Cause (i.e. for Mujahidoon — those fighting in a holy battle), and for the wayfarer (a traveller who is cut off from everything); a duty imposed by Allaah. And Allaah is All-Knower, All-Wise "[al-Tawbah 9:60]
