Nuclear weapons: Iran is not a threat to Israel

It has been predicted numerous times over a period of decades that Iran would soon be in possession of nuclear bombs. One of the prophets is Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In his speech at the UN General Assembly, September 27, 2012, he told the world that Iran will have the terrifying weapons in summer 2013, and the target will be Israel. Numerous times Israel's leaders have threatened to attack Iran. Netanyahu demands pre-emptive action now. But not even Israel's best friend, the US, wants a new war in the volatile region of great importance to the world economy. The former US Secretary of Defense Robert Gates warns: "The results of an American or Israeli military strike on Iran could, in my view, prove catastrophic, haunting generations in that part of the world."

It should be noted: Iran has never attacked or threatened to attack another country. Iran has called for the abolition of all nuclear weapons. Regarding a military confrontation with Israel, Iran is convinced that Israel is in possession of modern nuclear bombs and other sophisticated weapons. Iran also knows that for its protection, Israel can rely on the US and Nato, which own the most formidable arsenals in the history of warfare. That detailed plans are in place for attacks on Iran is not a secret. Any attempt by Iran to hit Israel would be tantamount to suicide. And the Iranians know it. Iran is not a threat to Israel.

Furthermore, millions of Palestinians live in the region of Israel, Gaza and the West Bank. They would also be engulfed in the conflagration predicted by Netanyahu. Does Israel's leader really believe that the Iranians are ready to massacre their own friends, the people they support?

Finally, the Iranians will certainly not want to desecrate or destroy Islam's holy sites in the land of Palestine.
