(Quran 9:60)

"The offerings (Zakah) given for the sake of God are meant only for the poor and the needy, and those who are in charge thereof, and to attract the hearts of those who have been inclined (towards Islam); and for the freeing of human beings from bondage, and for those who are over burdened with debts, and [for every struggle] in God's cause, and for the wayfarer: this is an ordinance from God - and God is all-knowing, wise."

Zakat for Purification and Growth

IslamiCity is promoting Islamic education and an objective view of Islam around the world and specifically in the USA where there are heightened tensions and misconceptions that have been created since the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

IslamiCity- Working since 1995 to remove
misconceptions about Islam.

Just a few aspects of this project are:

  • Providing free literature (books, CDs, etc.) to the public about Islam and Muslims

  • Providing an Islamic Information phone line to answer questions about Islam and Muslims

  • Provide a support network for people embracing Islam.

Results:

  1. As of September 2009 over 1000 seekers of peace have taken their Shahada thru the IslamiCity Islamic Information phone line.

  2. Every 3 seconds, a new person visits IslamiCity

  3. During Ramadan the request for Free Literature dawa packages increases by 100%

  4. 1.6 million non-Muslims visit IslamiCity every year.

A recent comment from a non-Muslim visitor.
IslamiCity routinely receives such comments.

Zakat for Da'wah and Public Welfare Programs

There are a number of jurists of this century, such as Sheikh Muhammad 'Abduh, Rashid Rida, Maulana Mawdudi, Amin Ahsan Islahi, Yusuf Al-Qaradawi and some Fatwa organizations in Kuwait and Egypt, who are of the opinion that the phrase 'in the cause of Allah' covers a broad category. It is a general term and it should be applied in all those situations where there is a need to serve Islam and Muslims.

These scholars consider it permissible to use the Zakah money to finance the Da'wah and public welfare programs.

Excerpt from article by Dr. Muzammil Siddiqi

Please consider giving your Sadaqah (charity) and Zakat online for this much needed project in North America to promote Islamic Information and making a lasting contribution towards dawa'.
