2:259 Or (take) the similitude of one who passed by a hamlet, all in ruins to its roofs. He said: "Oh! how shall Allah bring it (ever) to life, after (this) its death?" but Allah caused him to die for a hundred years, then raised him up (again). He said: "How long didst thou tarry (thus)?" He said: (Perhaps) a day or part of a day." He said: "Nay, thou hast tarried thus a hundred years; but look at thy food and thy drink; they show no signs of age; and look at thy donkey: And that We may make of thee a sign unto the people, Look further at the bones, how We bring them together and clothe them with flesh." When this was shown clearly to him, he said: "I know that Allah hath power over all things." Turkish:
2:259 Ya da alti üstüne gelmis, issiz duran bir sehre ugrayan gibisini (görmedin mi?) Demisti ki: "Allah, burasini ölümünden sonra nasil diriltecekmis?" Bunun üzerine Allah, onu yüz yil ölü birakti, sonra onu diriltti. (Ve ona) Dedi ki: "Ne kadar kaldin?" O: "Bir gün veya bir günden az kaldim" dedi. (Allah ona:) "Hayir, yüz yil kaldin, böyleyken yiyecegine ve içecegine bak, henüz bozulmamis; esegine de bir bak; (bunu yapmamiz) seni insanlara ibret-belgesi kilmamiz içindir. Kemiklere de bir bak nasil bir araya getiriyoruz, sonra da onlara et giydiriyoruz?" dedi. O, kendisine (bunlar) apaçik belli olduktan sonra dedi ki: "(Artik simdi) Biliyorum ki gerçekten Allah, her seye güç yetirendir."
French:
2:259 Ou comme celui qui passait dans par un village désert et dévasté: "Comment Allah va-t-Il redonner la vie à celui-ci après sa mort?" dit-il. Allah donc le fit mourir et le garda ainsi pendant cent ans. Puis Il le ressuscita en disant: "Combien de temps as-tu demeuré ainsi?" "Je suis resté un jour, dit l'autre, ou une partie de la journée." "Non! dit Allah, tu es resté cent ans. Regarde donc ta nourriture et ta boisson: rien ne s'est gâté; mais regarde ton âne... Et pour faire de toi un signe pour les gens, et regarde ces ossements, comment Nous les assemblons et les revêtons de chair". Et devant l'évidence, il dit: "Je sais qu'Allah est Omnipotent".
German:
2:259 Oder wie jener, der an einer Stadt vorüberkam, die auf ihren Dächern lag, (und) ausrief: "Wann wird Allah diese dem Leben zurückgeben nach ihrem Tod?" Da ließ Allah ihn sterben auf hundert Jahre; dann erweckte Er ihn (und) sprach: "Wie lange hast du geharrt?" Er antwortete: "Ich harrte einen Tag oder den Teil eines Tages." Er sprach: "Nein, du harrtest hundert Jahre lang. Nun blicke auf deine Speise und deinen Trank; sie sind nicht verdorben. Und blicke auf deinen Esel - also, daß Wir dich zu einem Zeichen machen für die Menschen. Und blicke auf die Knochen, wie Wir sie zusammensetzen und dann mit Fleisch überziehen." Als ihm dies klar wurde, sprach er: "Ich weiß, daß Allah die Macht hat, alles zu tun, was Er will."

2:259 O como quien pasó por una ciudad en ruinas. Dijo: "¿Cómo va Alá a devolver la vida a ésta después de muerta?" Alá le hizo morir y quedar así durante cien años. Luego, le resucitó y dijo: "¿Cuánto tiempo has permanecido así?" Dijo: "He permanecido un día o parte de un día". Dijo: "No, que has permanecido así cien años. ¡Mira tu alimento y tu bebida! N se han echado a perder. ¡Mira a tu asno! Para hacer de ti un signo para los hombres. ¡Mira los huesos, cómo los componemos y los cubrimos de carne!". Cuando lo vio claro, dijo: "Ahora sé que Alá es omnipotente".
